Is FEMA providing disaster assistance?
After the attacks, the Federal Emergency Management Agency activated its disaster centers across the country to help in the recovery process. FEMA also dispatched 12 urban search-and-rescue teams to New York and Washington, D.C. Residents and businesses affected by the attacks can apply for federal assistance by calling 1-800-462-9029, or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.
